Application/Problem Description:
Paved road, asphalt thickness reduction.

Solution:
FORTA-FI® was used to reduce the asphalt pavement section from 5” AC to 4” of ber-reinforced asphalt concrete, saving $2/SY and providing an extension of pavement life. In addition, Alliance-
Geo’s Type 2 biaxial geogrid was used to reduce the Class II aggregate base from 12” to 9”, saving an additional $2.30/SY. Total project cost savings for the City was approximately $300,000, and they ended up with a longer lasting pavement structure that will require fewer maintenance activities in the future.
